About our founder

Our founder, Rukayyah Yussuf, drew on her personal journey as a migrant who initially spoke no English upon arriving in the UK to develop a transformative educational approach. Facing numerous challenges during her own studies, Rukayyah experienced firsthand the difficulties that students with English as a second language encounter.

Starting her formal education in the UK at the age of 14, Rukayyah faced significant obstacles, including translating textbooks through Google Translate and struggling to grasp complex topics despite rigorous study. Her initial predictions were disheartening Es and Fs across all subjects, including Mathematics and English.

Determined to overcome these hurdles and pursue higher education as the first in her family to graduate, Rukayyah discovered the power of past papers. By adopting this innovative study technique, she dramatically improved her performance, transforming her predicted F grades into A* results in both Mathematics and English within just eight months. Rukayyah’s personal success has shaped the ethos of Past Paper Tuition, driving our commitment to provide effective, tailored support for students facing similar challenges.
